Location of the (1d<sub>5/2</sub>)(1d<sub>3/2</sub>)4<sup>+</sup> level in <sup>18</sup>O

Absolute cross sections for the <sup>17</sup>O(d,p)<sup>18</sup>O reaction and ratios of cross sections to the <sup>16</sup>O(t,p)<sup>18</sup>O reaction serve to identify a state at 9.0 MeV in <sup>18</sup>O as having J<sup>pi </sup>=4<sup>+</sup> and consisting predominantly of the configuration (1d<sub>5/2</sub>)(1d<sub>3/2</sub>). Earlier results for the <sup>16</sup>O(t,p)<sup>18</sup>O reaction are consistent with this conclusion.
